Our friendly, knowledgeable Carolina Kids staff works hard to make your visits to our office as smooth and stress-free as possible. We have provided information about our office on this page, including directions, hours, insurance and billing.

Office Hours

Our regular office hours are listed below. Whenever possible, we will also work children who need to be seen for an emergency need which can be addressed in our office into our schedule for immediate attention. We will resume our pre-pandemic sick walk in clinic starting Monday, December 5, 2022.  Our sick walk-in time is from 8:30 am -9:15 am on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. During this time, you may bring your child in without an appointment before 9:15am for an acute illness or health problem (if your child needs a well visit, or evaluation for a chronic or complex problem, please make an appointment instead of coming during the sick walk-in hour). We also offer 7 hours each week of after hours appointments (after 5 pm) for urgent illnesses and injuries from 5 pm - 6:30 pm on Monday, through Thursday, and from 5 pm to 6 pm on Friday. Our office is closed for lunch from 12:30 to 1:30 pm on weekdays. Weekend visits are by same-day appointment, so please call us as early as you can during the hours listed below if your child needs a weekend sick appointment. We offer appointments for 8 hours each weekend (9 am - 1 pm on Saturday and Sunday). Please call before 12:30 pm if your child needs a same-day sick appointment on weekends. We do not have walk-in hours on weekends.

We will not charge our patients for after-hours telephone calls (unless the call results in a new medication being prescribed, in which case there is a nominal fee).  One of our five pediatricians is always on call for our practice, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

*Extended hour same day appointments are for acute sick care and are offered from 5 pm -  6:30 pm Monday thru Thursday, and from 5 pm - 6 pm on Friday.

Contact us at (919) 881-9009 if you need to schedule an appointment for your child. All well check appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes and may also be scheduled via your child's patient portal. Carolina Kids offers appointments with additional time for complicated or chronic medical issues, including behavioral and developmental concerns. 

On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 am until 9:15 am, you are welcome to come in without an appointment for acute illness or urgent medical concern during our “sick walk-in” hour. 

Weekend appointments are scheduled same day only, If your child needs to be seen for an acute illness or urgent medical concern on a Saturday or Sunday, please call after 9 am but before 12:30pm to schedule.

Hospital Affiliations

All Carolina Kids pediatricians have hospital privileges at Rex Hospital, and see newborn infants at the hospital 7 days a week.
