Carolina Kids currently accepts most plans offered by the insurance carriers listed below:
We currently do not accept new Medicaid, NC Healthchoice, Christian Care Ministries, or Tricare.
If you are a patient searching for a practice that accepts new Medicaid, please see this DHHS list.
We currently do not accept any Ambetter, or international policies. If your policy has changed, please check with our office prior to any appointments.
While your carrier may be listed above, due to constant changes in healthcare plans, we cannot guarantee that we are in network with your specific plan or able to submit claims on your behalf.
See our Insurance and Billing 101 for more information.
Many insurance plans apply deductibles/co-insurance to testing or procedures performed during your visit. Separate codes are used for add-on items and are not included with the exam, even if performed at a scheduled well-exam. See our parent handout on Deductibles/Co-Insurance for more information.
The N.C. Department of Insurance offers a great program called Smart NC to assist families with finding, choosing, and obtaining insurance.

On February 1, 2020, N.C. Medicaid and N.C. Health Choice are moving to “Medicaid Managed Care”. This means, instead of the state managing your healthcare plan, a private insurance company will be managing your healthcare plan. You will be required to select a plan from one of five insurance carriers the state has selected by December 13, 2019.
At this time, our office has enrolled as a provider with the following plans:
Open enrollment ends soon, if you have not selected a plan and a practice, visit the N.C. Medicaid website to enroll and learn more. If you have not selected a plan and a provider by December 13, 2019, the state will auto assign you a plan and a practice.
We are happy to answer questions that you may have pertaining to our office and the Medicaid insurance plans with whom we will participate. If you have any questions, feel free to contact our office at (919) 881- 9009.
