Do you offer free prenatal classes? Yes. Carolina Kids offers evening prenatal classes about twice monthly, and these classes are always free of charge. Please check out the link on the main page of the website or call our office to sign up. We also provide all our new patients with the reference book Caring for Your Baby and Young Child from the American Academic of Pediatrics, free of charge.

Does your office have a lactation consultant? Yes. Jerianne Webb, a certified lactation consultant, provides consultations with Carolina Kids patients in our office as requested.

Does Carolina Kids have weekend hours? Yes. Carolina Kids has office hours from 9-12:30 on Saturday, and 9-12:30 on Sunday, in addition to our regular weekday hours. These hours are by appointment only.

Does Carolina Kids offer after hours appointments? Yes, beginning in July 2016, we will offer limited visits for urgent illnesses and injuries from 5 pm - 6:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and from 5 pm - 6 pm on Friday.

Do I have to listen to an automated message when I call your office? No. During office hours, our telephone is always answered by one of our friendly and professional front office staff. You will never have to listen to a phone tree menu during office hours!

Will I be charged for after hours phone calls? No. At Carolina Kids, we do not believe in imposing additional costs for communicating with us after hours. All after hours calls are free of charge, except if your call results in the call in of a new prescription (not a refill) that would otherwise require an office visit. In this case, a nominal $25 fee is charged.

Do you have a patient portal? Yes. Our patient portal is a great way to access summaries of your child's medical information. Just check out the link on the home page of our website.

Can I communicate with your staff electronically? Yes. You can send electronic messages about any non-urgent questions or concerns, request forms, or request prescription refills, and we can respond to those messages through our patient portal. However, always call us if you have concerns about a current illness or injury, or any other urgent concern, and we will respond to you quickly by phone.

Will I be charged for completion of forms for daycare, school, camp, etc.? No.  Completion of these and related forms is always free of charge.

Will I be charged if I miss an appointment? No.  Although we do not charge a fee for missed appointments, please realize that a missed appointment is time that could have bee used to see another child who needed to be seen. Please cancel or reschedule appointments as soon as you know you will be unable to come. You can view our missed appointment policy here

Do you take care of unexpected and emergency problems? Yes. Although we are not an ER, we can take care of many of the problems that you might think you need an ER to fix…without the long wait, and the unfamiliar health care provider. We can stitch cuts and lacerations, splint minor bone and joint injuries, provide IV fluids to a dehydrated child, give antibiotic injections, and treat acute respiratory problems like asthma or croup.
